We started to look for somewhere to stay for the next few nights, expecting there to be many cheap rooms because of the surf community that has formed around the beach. We were wrong. Canggu was by far the most expensive area we have stayed in, especially considering there isn’t much except the beach there. I’m not typically one to look at the small details of a room, but considering the quality of rooms we had stayed in at previous locations for far less I thought it was worth a mention. The rooms we found in Canggu were dirtier, smaller and were further out of the way, for double the price of what we have previously been spending. After trying homestay after homestay we eventually found a place for 225krp a night. The vibe of the homestay was pretty cool, it was set to the side of a wood fire pizza parlor, which had amazing pizzas accompanied by live acoustic music and cheap beers.
We rode to Legian, and looked around at some accommodation there, but as expected we ended up back in Suriwathi and because we have stayed there a few times we got a room for 250krp overlooking their second pool. We went for a swim then decided to go into Denpasar to find a electronics shopping Centre called ‘Rimo’ that I had read about online as we needed to buy a few things. Its really not a surprise we got lost too many times to mention, I was not only in charge of directing Justin there, but I was also in charge of getting the directions off the internet, which was a disaster to say the least.
The next day we spoke to the guy at Suriwathi’s reception, he showed us where Rimo was on our map (of course, way off yesterdays adventures) after contemplating if we should just pay a driver to take us there or attempt it again on our bike, we chose the stupider option of the two.
When we got back to Suriwathi we told the receptionist that he had lead us into the middle of Denpasar without a clue where we where going, all he could do was laugh and push out a “whoops, it was a good adventure then”, we laughed with him despite him laughing at us.
I better go, just had the final call for passengers boarding flight PR538 to Manila!
