During our first full day in Penang we decided to rent a bike and ride to Penang Hill with no actual idea of where it was, we ended up in some botanical garden with little battery left on our phone. Common sense told us to go back to the hotel and forget about reaching Penang Hill. We decided instead to sniff out some of the street art in George Town, we grabbed one of the maps from our hotel and followed it from A to B to see the art, our short trip turned into a full day even when we realised how many one way streets the city has, it proved a frustrating but rewarding day which ended in Justin in a feral mood (so wasn’t because of my directions).
After we got off the straight line of the bridge we of course became lost, leading us into a ghost town where even though there were huge buildings either side there were no life to be found, except for the cow munching on the grass in the middle of the roundabout.
We somehow managed to get back onto the highway and headed back to George Town via Penang’s 2nd longest bridge. We had some Indian and searched the internet to get a proper idea of where Penang Hill was actually located. We decided to tackle it again that night and surprisingly we were successful in finally reaching Penang Hill.
