As soon as we walked into King Boutique Villa we realised the definition of the saying ‘there’s cheap, and then there is Cambodian cheap’. We paid $15 a night for our room, which is by far the nicest room we have stayed in for a while, the hotel also provided us with a local breakfast and a beautiful swimming pool which we loved laying around in. Once we settled in we settled in we went into Bar Street to find some dinner, we found a Mexican restaurant called ‘Viva Mexican’ and again, realised just how cheap this country is; 50cent draft beers and $1.50 margs .
The following day we decided to stay by the pool and just relax, we organized a motorbike for the following day through the only motorbike rental company in Siem Reap, MotoGo. This meant the following day we were off to give ourselves a self-tour through Angkor Wat (much to the tuk-tuk drivers disappointment). Once we bought our 3-day tickets ($20 for one day or $40 for 3 days) we drove onwards and started to discover the mind-boggling temples in the area. Luckily we bought a self-guidebook in Angkor Wat through one of the locals for $6, it would have been a very confusing and information-less day if we hadn’t. The following day we did pretty much the same thing, explored various temples. However after taking a ‘short-cut’ to get to a temple in a man made lake we ended u spending an hour of our time trying to maneuver a motorbike through a very sandy road.

The following day was our anniversary, so instead of spending the day walking through temples in the heat and humidity (we had done our best to cover 3 days worth in 2 days) we decided to go out for a huge breakfast and then head to the local cinema. This cinema in Siem Reap is a little different, you pay $5 per person and can choose any movie out of a big list of movies (cannot confirm if this is legal or not) once you choose your movie you are taken into one of their many private rooms which contain a comfortable lounge and projector TV. We watched Hunger Games 2 and it was well worth our $10. Once our movie was over we decided to jump on the bike and head out of town a little bit to Phnom Krom, this is when we relised just how poor this country is. Outside of the main city it feels like you're in a different country. You become surrounded by poverty, homes that are made up of 4 very dodgy walls and children with scraps of clothing hanging off them. We made our way up the mountain and were granted 5 minutes at the view point by the police officer (would have been allowed longer but we didn’t have our Angkor Temple passes).
We headed back to King Boutique Villa and showered to get ready for our anniversary dinner. We decided to get some Indian before heading to Angkor Famous Restaurant, which, regardless of if it is actually famous or not, became our favourite place in Siem Reap, it was a pretty easy title to obtain, as soon as we saw the ‘free popcorn’ and ‘$3.50J pitcher’ signs, they were it. Things got pretty messy after a fair few pitchers. We ended up back at the hotel playing celebrity heads and just being general idiots with each other.
The following day we were feeling a little bit sorry and seedy and decided to treat ourselves at the spa. For $26 Justin got a 90-minute massages whilst I received a 60-minute massage teamed with a facial. u

I better go, to be honest, I may still be drunk, I hope I’ve edited most of the spelling mistakes out.
